The King's Letters marks the late Jeon Mi Sun's final work, which posthumously brought her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 6th Korean Film Producers Association Awards.

Despite the opposition of his retainers, King Sejong (Song Kang Ho) is determined to create a Korean alphabet that could be learned by all his people. He and Monk Shinmi (Park Hae Il) struggle to write Hunminjeongeum to introduce Korea's written language, Hangul.
