for K-pop travelers who have decided to make their way to Korea and also provides a guide for a trip that’s best suited for their purposes and lifestyles.
This book was conceptualized based on a storytelling technique, which takes K-pop travelers through 5 days and 4 nights in Seoul while on a visit to see
a concert by their favorite K-pop artist. What sets this book apart is that you can see the whole itinerary for the trip and Korean expressions being enacted in
video form. To do this, members of K-pop group Favorite travel to the hottest tourist spots and see, taste, and feel what these places have to offer—all captured on video.
The video clips highlight the appeal of these tourist attractions and include useful Korean expressions along with English subtitles to aid in the viewers’ understanding.

Enriched with QR-Code links to online videos this is a must have for any young student of Korean.

50 Folktales for Learners of Korean
Click here to download the audiofiles   ▪ Practice reading step by step while reading traditional folktales by level! As the Korean folktales in the book have been adapted using vocabulary and expressions by level, from A2 (level 2) to B2 (level 4), readers can choose and read stories that suit their own level. In particular, level 2 and 3 learners can also try reading at a higher level. With all of the stories translated into English, you can use the translation to accurately grasp the meaning of portions that are difficult to understand due to level or cultural differences, allowing you to keep moving on in the text. ▪ Get a glimpse of the lives of Koreans in the past through cultural illustrations! Many cultural and historical elements appear in traditional Korean folktales, such as dokkaebi, mill stones, a doe of rice, a nyang coin, and gamtu, which can be unfamiliar to foreign learners of Korean. These Korean elements are presented in illustrations of scenes or vocabulary so that foreign learners can see and easily understand the lives of Koreans in the past. ▪ Familiarize yourself with lively Korean accents, with recordings by professional voice actors! All of the stories are recorded in Korean so that you can listen to them just like an audiobook, checking on the linguistic habits of Koreans that are contained in the dialogue and familiarizing yourself with accents and meanings of onomatopoeia and mimetic words that don’t appear often in ordinary Korean language textbooks. The audio files, which are presented for each story, can be listened to via QR code or downloaded as MP3 files.   Table of Contents 서문 Preface 004일러두기 How to Use This Book 006목차 Table of Contents 008[A2]1. The Yellow Ox and the Black Ox 0122. 삼 년 고개 Three Year Hill 0153. 훈장님의 꿀단지 The Village School Teacher’s Honey Jar 0184. The Mice that Repaid a Favor 0215. 토끼의 재판 The Rabbit’s Trial 0246. A Bet with a Dokkaebi 0277. 신기한 탈 The Remarkable Mask 0308. 며느리 시험 The Daughter-in-Law Test 0349. 혹부리 영감 Old Man Lumpy 03710. The Most Frightening Thing in the World 04111. The Flowers That Bloomed on Grandmother’s Grave 04813. 요술 맷돌 The Magic Millstone 05214. 이상한 샘물 The Strange Spring Water 05615. The Young Man Who Bought the Shade of a Tree 060[B1]16. The People Who Saw a Mirror for the First Time 06617. The Dog, the Cat, and the Marble 07018. The Tiger and the Dried Persimmon 07419. The King Has Donkey Ears 07820. The Story of the Green Frog 08221. 도깨비방망이 The Dokkaebi’s Club 08622. The Filial Son Who Rode on a Tiger’s Back 09023. The Trial of the Tombside Stone Post 09424. 신기한 항아리 The Marvelous Pot 09825. 우렁이 각시 The Snail Bride 103[B2]31. 지혜로운 총각 The Wise Young Man 13432. 냄새 맡은 값 The Price of Smelling 13933. The Magpie Who Repaid a Favor 14735. 견우와 직녀 Gyeonu and Jingnyeo 15236. The Tiger Who Repaid a Favor 15837. 도깨비 감투 The Dokkaebi Hat 16338. The Pants that Grew Shorter 16939. 여우 누이 The Fox Sister 17440. The Younger Brother Who Became a Roe Deer 17941. 신기한 나뭇잎 The Marvelous Leaf 18542. 쑥과 마늘 Mugwort and Garlic 19143. 구렁덩덩 선비 The Divine Serpent Scholar 19644. 토끼의 간 The Rabbit’s Liver 20145. 효녀 심청 Filial Daughter Shim Cheong 20646. 옹고집 이야기 The Story of Onggojip 21147. 흥부와 놀부 Heungbu and Nolbu 21648. 바리공주 Princess Bari 22249. 콩쥐 팥쥐 Kongjwi and Patjwi 22850.

Contemporary K-Cinema and K-Dramas
The Korean Wave, or Hallyu, which began in neighboring Asian countries in 1997, has expanded to become a global phenomenon in the 2020s. Korean cultural content, as witnessed through BTS (K-pop), Parasite (K-cinema), and Squid Game (K-drama), has come to dominate mainstream culture on the global stage. This is especially true with Korean dramas, which played a pioneering role in the birth of the Korean Wave, as well as in generating interest in Korean society and culture. In recent years, thanks to global OTT platforms like Netflix, Korean dramas have been distributed to every corner of the planet and have attracted a wide range of audiences across racial, national, gender, and age divides. This book selected thirteen K-dramas for television and K-cinema films that have either become global hits thanks to the Korean Wave or are worthy of further exploration, and provides a wide-ranging look at the meanings and contexts of these works, as well as the reasons for their success and how they can be interpreted from different angles. In addition, this book examines the realities and specificities of Korean society and how those specificities are not just limited to Korea, but have become universal so that they now resonate with people around the world. The works covered in this book were all released between the second half of 2021 and the second half of 2022: Squid Game, Hellbound, The Silent Sea, D.P., All of Us Are Dead, Juvenile Justice, Pachinko, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo (dramas) and Broker, The Outlaws series, Alienoid, Seoul Vibe, and 20th Century Girl (movies). We sincerely hope this book will help readers better understand each of these works and develop an interest in and passion for K-cinema and K-dramas.
