다음 주 월요일에는 금요일에 있었던 일들을 거의 잊은 상태였다. 그랬다가 여자아이의 문자메시지 덕분에 회식 때 나눴던 이야기가 다시 생각났다.
거의 다 왔는데 좀 늦을 거 같아요, 지하철이 중간에 멈췄어요. 죄송합니다.
15분가량 지각한 여자아이는 은영을 향해 고개를 한 번 숙이고 자리에 가서 앉았다.
그날은 오전에 일이 많아서 화장실을 갈 틈조차 없었다. 은영이 떠안게 된 회계 업무는 분량 자체는 대단치 않았지만 일들이 월말에 몰린다는 점이 문제였다. 고개를 들어 건너편을 봤더니 여자아이가 무료한 표정으로 마우스 버튼을 까딱까딱 누르는 모습이 보였다. (또 뮤지컬과 일본 여행 정보 검색하나? 이번 마감을 하고 나서 천천히 회계 일을 좀 가르쳐 볼까?)

On the following Monday, all the events of Friday had been practically forgotten. But after receiving a text message from the girl, everything that was said at the dinner came back to ?n-y?ng.
I’m almost there but I think I’m going to be a bit late. The subway train suddenly stopped on the tracks. Sorry.
The girl came about fifteen minutes late, nodded once in the direction of ?n-y?ng, and sat down at her desk.
It was so busy that morning that there wasn’t even time to go to the washroom. There wasn’t a lot to do for the accounting tasks ?n-y?ng had taken over, but it all had to be done at the end of the month. ?n-y?ng raised her head and looked across the room to see the girl looking bored, click-clicking the mouse. (Is she looking up musicals or Japan tours again? After I finish this month’s, should I slowly start training her in accounting?)
